By 2025, Scotland will be regarded as a world-leading learning nation
As part of Scotland’s Futures Forum strategic link with the Goodison Group in Scotland in the area of learning and skills, our organisations undertook a project on Scotland as a world-leading learning nation.
This ambitious project took a futures look at the learning environment in 2025 and beyond. It aims to help to change attitudes and the ways in which policy makers, educators, employers and all interested parties, as well as learners, think about education and the different forms of learning and skills required for the 21st century.
In February 2014, we undertook a one-year-on horizon scan of the project, based on feedback from those who took part in the scenario project and on visible signals from key drivers. The Horizon Scanning Report (1.1MB pdf) is now available.
We suggest that the four papers for this project be approached in the order listed below:
1. By 2025, Scotland will be regarded as a world-leading learning nation: Key questions and provocations
2. By 2025, Scotland will be regarded as a world-leading learning nation: Toolkit – Using these scenarios within your organisation
3. By 2025, Scotland will be regarded as a world-leading learning nation: Scenarios for the future
4. By 2025, Scotland will be regarded as a world-leading learning nation: Data workbook
The publication launch report (pdf) is now available!
The toolkit and the accompanying presentation materials indicate ways in which organisations/learners can use the Forum/GGIS scenarios. The presentation materials can also be used to create your own specially tailored or “nested” scenarios. We have designed workshop sessions for a variety of needs, e.g., short 2 hour sessions, as well as half day, full day or two day sessions. The workshop sessions can stand alone or be supported by a facilitator.
